A Parent Cooperative School
Clinton Path Preschool is a parent cooperative school, serving children from two to five years in a mixed-age, play-based program. The school was founded in 1972 by a group of parents and teachers. The co-op environment allows parents to remain a strong presence in the school. They share administrative and maintenance duties. The pre-school community benefits from close interaction with parents and teachers.
Our Program
Clinton Path offers a play-based program which aims to introduce children to group life, helps children develop satisfying and joyful friendships, and respectful feelings towards themselves and others. The environment is arranged to support free choice and focused activity; teachers encourage children’s interests by offering experiences and materials that build on previous play. The planned curriculum reflects children’s needs for individual expression and growth. Art, cooking, woodworking and physical activity encourage experimentation and planning, while theme units promote long-term thinking about a topic, and provide experiences which challenge children to look at a topic in different ways. Field trips, visitors to the classroom and resources from libraries and museums enhance our planning.
Our Cooperative Format
Parental involvement in the school is significant.
As co-op members, parents perform diverse administrative and maintenance tasks, participate in planning and policy-making for the school, and have access to a community of families and teachers. The school welcomes parental visits at any time, and encourages parents to join their children at lunch, providing a relaxed opportunity for discussion with other parents or teachers. In addition to performing a co-op job, parents participate in two work days each year, attend bimonthly parent meetings, and are scheduled to do weekend
cleanings of the school on a rotating basis. Throughout the year several social events are planned which provide more time for relaxed socializing.
Our Location
We are conveniently located in Brookline Village, near local elementary schools, playgrounds and public transportation. Our location enables us to make frequent trips to our neighborhood sites. Our space, which is rented from St. Paul’s Church, is arranged to accommodate a variety of activities planned by teachers or chosen by the children.

Summer Program
Clinton Path Preschool’s Summer Program is uniquely tailored to the needs and interests of young children three to six years old. The setting is relaxed, the atmosphere is cozy and familiar, and the teachers are warm and caring. Our goal is to create a happy and positive experience for all children and families. We aim to build self-confidence and friendships through individual attention, as well as fun and exciting group activities. Our teachers strike a nice balance between offering lots of choice to the kids while providing some structure and consistent routine. Up to 17 children can attend each day and there are always at least three staff members on hand.
Wonderful FlexibilityNo other summer program in Brookline offers the degree of flexibility of Clinton Path Preschool. You may enroll your child for just two (consecutive or non-consecutive) weeks or all eight. Children may attend part-time (3 or 4 days per week) or full-time. Please note that part-timers must include either a Monday or Friday in their weekly schedule. |

Our StaffClinton Path Preschool’s staff of one teacher-director and two teachers work together to provide a safe, loving and nurturing school environment. All of our teachers have received training in Early Childhood Education, First Aid and CPR and continue to pursue personal and professional interests, which enrich the school’s program. Laura Bradford, our Teacher-Director, received a B.S. from Wheelock College and has been working in the field of early childhood education for 25 years. She has been at CPP since 2001 and brings a down-to-earth and nurturing approach to the school. Terry Gould, who began teaching at CPP in 1998, has a strong interest in nature and animals and is also a certified childhood yoga instructor. Sarah Lemos, on staff since 2004, has a BA in linguistics and can be seen teaching the children how to count in French while practicing tae-kwon-do or playing running and jumping games in Chinese. A priority for all of our teachers is getting to know each individual child in order to help them thrive in the preschool environment. What to bring
